Those who have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks know how the feeling of loneliness can be overwhelming during that period. More often than not, loneliness and isolation become the triggering factors for such attacks and the presence of loved ones can be of immense help.

That’s why Kelsey Darragh, who suffers from panic and anxiety disorder, created a to-do list for her boyfriend so that he could help her when she needed. The 27 -year-old from Tampa, Florida, tweeted the list and asked people to share it with “loved ones that need guidance”.

“I have panic & anxiety disorder. My boyfriend does not… but wants to understand it so he can help me. SO I made him this list! Feel free to share w ur loved ones that need guidance!” she said in the tweet, which has now gone viral.

Her list carried specific and simple guidelines that could be followed to help someone during panic attacks.

“Know that I am scared and won’t be able to explain why, so please don’t freak out of be annoyed with me,” one of the bullet points said.

“Tell me not to fight it – rather, let it pass through me. The more I try to control it, (or for YOU to try and control it) the worse it will be,” said another.

Mayo clinic describes a panic attack as “a sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause.”

Some of the most common symptoms experienced are breathlessness, increased rate of heart beats (palpitations), shivering or chills, chest pain, feeling of anxiety, feeling of unreality or detachment, profuse sweating, dizziness, hot or cold flashes, extreme fear of death or other phobias and nausea.

So, if you know someone who suffers from anxiety attacks, give this list a read so that you can help them.
