The city of Calgary gets an ‘A’ in socio-economic and physical health, according to the first-ever City Health Monitor report by the Conference Board of Canada.
Second only to Saskatoon, Calgary ranks ahead of seven other metropolitan hubs in categories such as access to health-care services and life satisfaction.
Winnipeg was the only other city besides Calgary and Saskatoon to receive an ‘A’ grade.
Six other cities received a ‘B’, leaving Montréal to take last place due to poor performance in all categories.
Vancouver scored first in population health and healthy lifestyles, but failed in two other categories, preventing it from being in the top three.
The other cities included in the report were Ottawa-Gatineau, Quebec City, Halifax, Toronto, and Edmonton.
