Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu Sunday said that education plays a vital role in laying the basic foundation in one’s life and is necessary to be successful.
“It develops students’ personality, sets up physical and mental standard and transforms their living status,” Murmu said at the Golden Jubilee Year Celebration of Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Shyamali, where cricketer M S Dhoni studied.
Congratulating the school on the occasion, the Governor said it is among the well recognised institutions which have been providing quality education in Jharkhand.
She said that in the present competitive world, education has become the fourth necessity for human beings after food, cloth and shelter.
“It enables us to find out solution for major problems and make us aware about contemporary issues,” she said.
The Governor said that it was a matter of pride that students of this school have been doing equally well in the field of sports. “The name of M S Dhoni, an alumnus of the school is known throughout the world,” she said.
“I have been informed that for inculcating value-based education and respecting the elders of our society, the school arranges visits to the Old Age Homes for the students to celebrate different festivals with the residents of such homes,” Murmu said.
