“The community has been asking for Homearama, they love it.” said Joe Sortino, chairman of the Rochester Home Builders’ Association and president of Sortino Properties.
“We secured a nice location here in Pittsford. There’s seven beautiful homes, six ranches and one cape cod.”
Sortino Properties has a home shown in Homearama this year.
“We’ve gotten great response. It has a no-step entry front porch and when you exit through the garage, there’s a no-step entry there.”
Known as “The Olivia,” the Sortino Properties home has this small but important feature to make it easier for visitors with wheelchairs, walkers and crutches.
“We have not looked at all of them,” Wojtarowicz said, “but our favorite so far is The Olivia. The kitchen was a great thing too.”
Wojtarowicz said the large, open kitchen drew her in, but the technology of the house drew in her husband.
“It’s definitely a smart home,” Sortino said. “We have cameras here. If you are out of town, you’re able to see different spots in your home and make sure you’re secure through an app on your phone. You’re able to control your heat, you’re able to put on lights, if you want to lock your doors you can lock your doors. It does different things.”
In addition to homes, dozens of vendors were in Wilshire Hill to provide people with information on windows, siding, pools, fireplaces and more home improvement projects.
“We have a bunch of vendors who are part of Rochester Home Builders, trying to show their product off,” Sortino said.
According to Sortino, there is enough entertainment for everyone. Wojtarowicz said there were many things that brought her back this year.
“New ideas, new paint colors, to see what’s the latest and greatest in home decorating,” Wojtarowicz said. ” I really eventually would like a new home when I retire so we’re just trying to get a lot of ideas.”
