SAN ANTONIO – More than 1,500 people, including San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor, gathered at Wolff Stadium Saturday morning to show off their fitness for the District 6 Fitness 5K.
The event was part of San Antonio Sports’ Fit Family Challenge, a 12-week program encouraging families to learn about and increase physical health.
The event’s organizers say this is the program’s seventh year — and so far, it’s been successful.
“This program means a great deal to San Antonio Sports,” said program Vice President Mary Ullmann Japhet. “It means a great deal to our community and we are so excited to see people excited about their own health and fitness, and forming friendships, and changing their ways of life, because they’ve been a part of this program. So we’re going to keep it going.”
Saturday’s celebration also included giveaways: A total of $2,500 in cash and fitness prizes.
