Thunder Rode, a therapeutic horsemanship program for individuals with special needs, will host a benefit dance and silent auction Saturday, Aug. 27, from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. at Nob Hill, north of Decorah, featuring the Swamp Cats from Manchester.
Tyler (TJ) Vobr, Waukon, is a guest singer who will perform throughout the evening, with the band. TJ is a Thunder Rode Sports Therapy participant, with talents with spoons and the guitar. He covers Johnny Cash, George Strait and other country stars.
Silent auction items include an overnight stay at the County Inn & Suites, Decorah, Mall of America various fun tickets, a fishing trip by Fox Rods of Harpers Ferry, an afternoon trail ride and several other western items.
Thunder Rode serves residents from Allamakee, Howard and Winneshiek counties in Iowa and Fillmore and Houston counties in Minn.
The current service offerings are Sports Therapy, Iowa Thunder Youth Empowerment and Tri-State Thunder Vets – service for Veterans. Proceeds from the dance will be used to enable Thunder Rode to assist all who can benefit from the program, whether or not they can afford services.
This year’s dance sponsors are E & B Christopher Construction, Hansen Janitorial Service, Featherlite, a division of Universal Trailers, CUSB Bank, Cresco Bank & Trust, Waukon Chiropractic Center, Winneshiek Chiropractic Center, The Steel Shop, Bank of the West, Casey’s General Store, Decorah Bank & Trust, DECO Products Company, Marine Credit Union, Skippy’s Repair, Root River Hardwoods, Elon Express and Village Farm & Home (Waukon).
