In celebration of the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Samsung Electronics Co., the official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Wireless Communications Equipment category, unveiled the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 7 (local time).
The Rio 2016-inspired device incorporates an Olympic Games design embedded into the body, including the five official colors of the Olympic Rings. It flaunts black cover with gold-hued home button and speakers, blue on camera modules and the Olympic Rings on the back, and red on the power button on the side and green on the volume rockers. The five color combination has also been integrated into phone’s user interface, including home, lock screens. Pre-loaded Rio 2016 Olympic Games themed wallpapers are available as well.
Samsung Electronics offered fans and consumers a chance to commemorate the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by making a limited number of the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition available beginning July 18in select regions, such as Korea, Brazil, the United States, Germany and China, with 2,016 units each. Additionally, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the company will be giving away 12,500 units of Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Limited Edition with the Gear IconX cord-free earbuds to all the athletes participating in the upcoming Rio 2016.
With the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Limited Edition and the Gear IconX, Samsung plans to help all Rio 2016 Olympiansto enhance their experiences in Rio and communicate with family and friends around the world more conveniently.
During the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Samsung will be setting up Galaxy Studios across Brazil to offer fans a place to interact with Samsung’s latest technology and connect with the Olympic Games. As well as three Galaxy Studios within the Olympic Park, several other studios will spring up in Rio, Sao Paulo, and local cities throughout Brazil.
Studio visitors will also have the opportunity to test out and purchase Samsung’s newest products. In particular, they will be able to try their hand at various Olympic sports through a range of enhanced virtual reality (VR) experiences. A new 4D VR offering will be available at select studios where fans can step outside their comfort zones and into specially designed seats to experience the high-speed thrill of kayaking.
In addition, the official application of Rio 2016, “The Rio 2016 App”, developed by Samsung in collaboration with the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee, provides athletes, fans and consumers with updates on all of the latest Olympic news. The app will provide the official Olympic Games schedule, venue and event information, results, medal counts, and more event information in real time. The Rio 2016 App will be available in early August for free download through the Samsung Galaxy Apps, Google Play for Android, App Store for iOS, and selected App Store in China as well as the Windows App Store.
The “Olympic Athletes’ Hub” app, developed by the IOC, will be installed on each Olympian device, where they will find relevant information to make the most of their experience at the Olympic Games Rio 2016. With the app, athletes will be able to reach out directly to the IOC and the IOC Athletes’ Commission and can also learn about all the resources and programs the IOC is making available to athletes.
Beginning with the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games, Samsung Electronics has been selected as the Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Wireless Communications Equipment category, continuously introducing the Olympic Spirit and innovative mobile technology.
