Close to 60,000 applicants have registered for undergraduate admissions through the Delhi University’s online application form even though no one has been able to complete the form. The university has made four out of the nine sections of the form unavailable.
Academic details section of the form has been blocked to avoid confusion as the university was waiting to get clarity on the issue of CBSE scrapping the moderation policy. A Delhi high court on Tuesday asked CBSE to continue with its moderation policy that gives extra marks to students for difficult questions.
“It was a precautionary step because we didn’t know what the court will say on moderation. We wanted to wait for the order so that we could alter the details required in academic details section of the form based on whatever is decided finally. Due to this, the applicants could not see preview and make payments,” said a DU official.
Officials on Wednesday said they will soon open the section of the form. “As many as 58,475 applicants have registered with us, including 24,822 male candidates, 18,334 female candidates and 12 in the others category,” said officials.
The form has nine tabs — personal details, academic details, course selection, sports, ECA, bank details, mandatory uploads, preview and payment. The university has also not yet uploaded its bulletin of information.
Students said they were facing problems in filling the form. “The page in which academic details are to be uploaded was not opening. Because of this we could not go to the seventh page, which asks for mandatory uploads,” Vishal Goel, an applicant.
DU officials tried to quell fears and deputy dean for students’ welfare, Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, said, “The tabs will be open soon. Anyway students still have ample amount of time to register. There is no need to panic or worry.”
Isolated instances of glitches in the sports section of the form were also reported.
