Visakhapatnam: Ambati Rambabu, the official spokesperson of YSR Congress Party on Thursday said “when the state government asked for four lakh crores for the construction of the new state capital, the union government has only given 450 crores” and added that the total allocation made to the state so far was 1976 crores.
Addressing the press in Visakshapatnam on Thursday, Ramababu criticised the AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for being silent on this matter and demanded that Chandrababu bring pressure on the union government as the special category status would bring jobs to the state.
He criticised that the centre and state governments together sought to bury the Polavaram project and alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had made Rs 1600 crore on the Pattiseema right canal in the past and was now gearing himself to do the same on the left canal of the project.
Unless the Polavaram project is completed, there can be no justice to Andhra Pradesh, he said and added that by allocating meagre and nominal funds, the Centre is insulting AP.
He expressed anguish at the Centre denying the state special status to AP, providing insufficient funds for its development and not taking up Polavaram project, and demanded that the Union government come to their aid by providing them the necessary funds.
