CLAT result 2017

Rajat Maloo from Rajasthan’s capital, Jaipur, topped the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2017 in the undergraduate category (UG), results of which were announced on Monday, by aggregating 154.25 out of 196 marks. Informing about the results, Patna’s Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) registrar said the results are ready and in the process of being uploaded, which will happen by 10 pm.

The CLAT is an all-India entrance exam conducted by 18 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. This year, Patna’s Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) organised the online admission test at 138 centres across the country on May 14.

Rajat was followed by Vihit Ashish Shah of Maharashtra (150.25/200) and Radhika Sharda from Rajasthan (148.5) at second and third spots. Sumit Kumar Gupta from Purnea district of Bihar scored 147.5 to rank fourth.

Son of a Ramesh Maloo and Santosh Maloo, Rajat completed his Class 12 (science) from Jayshree Periwal High Schoool and scored 74.8% marks. “But I was not interested in science and prepared for CLAT,” he added.

Modest performance in Class 12 was not a deterrent for Rajat as he had firm belief in his abilities.

“I worked hard for it. I want to pursue higher studies in law,” he said.

In the CLAT test for post-graduation admission, Uttar Pradesh’s Pranav Tripathi got the first spot, aggregating 125/150. He was followed by Swati Verma (121.5) and Abhishek Sinsinwar (120.25) – both from Uttar Pradesh. In the top 7 spots, all 7 students were from UP.

The merit list of CLAT (category-wise) was announced as scheduled on Monday evening. The publication of first indicative seat allotment list based on merit-cum-preference will be out on June 5.

Out of 50,676 candidates, who applied for CLAT countrywide, 47,108 reported for the online test.

The tentative answer keys were loaded on May 16. CNLU sought representations from students regarding exam, questions and answer key from May 17 to 19.

After the expert committee detected anomalies, an amended answer key was uploaded on May 25, 4 questions of 1 mark each were removed from the UG test following detection of errors or ambiguities.
