Destiny developer Bungie has clarified comments it made about weapons tuning in the Rise of Iron expansion.
The Destiny developer previously said that a weapons balancing patch would be released after the launch of Rise of Iron later this month.
However, in a follow up post on Reddit, the Destiny developer told fans that weapon tuning would actually launch alongside Rise of Iron.
“Wanted to clarify this as there was some confusion over the question and Scott misspoke,” reads a Reddit post. “There will be weapon tuning changes with Rise of Iron.”
Bungie also confirmed that the year three Thorn weapon would be the same as the one in the game right now, only with a new light level.
There will, however, be a new damage over time reducing artefact that can be used to counteract its effectiveness.
Bungie has also confirmed plans to release a brand new Destiny update on Xbox One and PS4.
Destiny update 2.4.0 will be available to download on PS4 and Xbox One from September 8.
The release of the update coincides with a lengthy period of server maintenance, which takes place from 4pm (UK time) until midnight on September 8.
Players will be able to download the update once the maintenance period has come to an end.
Bungie.net and the Destiny companion app will also have limited functionality during the downtime.
While patch notes are yet to be revealed, Bungie has advised fans to ensure they have enough space on their hard drives, before discussing the issue of in-game clan rosters.
“With the release of Destiny Update 2.4.0, Destiny Clan features will also be taken offline in preparation for in-game Clan Roster functionality.
“Clan tags will not appear on player nameplates until functionality is restored. Bungie.net Clan enrolment and moderation functionality will not be impacted.”
The acquisition of Sterling Treasures will also change after update 2.4.0. Players will only be able to acquire one-per-week through the Level 41 Prison of Elders playlist.
“On September 20 2016, with the launch of Destiny: Rise of Iron, the Eververse Trading Co. will no longer sell Sterling Treasure for Silver. Sterling Treasure will be replaced with Radiant Treasures, which contain Silver Dust, and all new Ornaments.”
Destiny’s Rise of Iron expansion will be released on September 20 for Xbox One and PS4.
It’s skipping PS3 and Xbox 360, because Bungie would have to remove features from the game to make it all fit.
Rise of Iron will introduce a new Story Campaign and Quests, new armour and gear, new weapons, a new Raid, a maximum light increase, a new strike, the brand new Plaguelands environment, new multiplayer maps and modes, and a new enemy faction and bosses.
It should keep fans busy until the release of Destiny 2, details of which may have just been outed as part of a concept art leak.
