During an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, legendary country singer Dolly Parton discussed how she has remained successful for decades.
“The music business is completely different than it was when I started. But I also feel like I’m as old as yesterday but as new as tomorrow, so I always try to keep up with stuff. I’m not all that technical savvy but I make sure I surround myself with people that are [because] I need to be on the creative end of it to develop and create these things that we can get out there,” she said.
The eight-time Grammy winner also discussed the advantages and pitfalls of technology.
“I have to say technology is a wonderful thing and musically it can take your stuff around the world, but the bad news is you’re not getting paid what you used to… I really think they need to rein that in somehow, not for me, because I’m too old to care and I’ve lived my life, but I still think that writers and musicians and singers should be able to be paid for what they do,” she said.
She also talked about her latest album, “Pure & Simple,” which was released on August 19, and her new tour.
“I always get excited about every album. It doesn’t matter if I’ve done 43 or 143. Each album has its own songs and its own personality,” she said. “And so, the music [is] always new. Even though love is an old subject, but it’s also a new subject because love is always exciting when it’s new and even when it’s old, it’s good stuff to write about,” she said.
