Members of Students Federation of India (SFI), along with an applicant of education loan, laid siege to the Bank of India’s Ganapathypalayam branch here on Friday, for rejecting the application without attributing any reason in writing.
SFI district secretary R. Vimal said that R. Sabareesan, a resident of the same area who is presently in the third year of his engineering studies at a private college, had applied for an education loan to the tune of Rs. 3.8 lakh during 2014-15 fiscal. “The bank officials verbally rejected the application. The student then gave a fresh application during the current fiscal on April 11 which too was rejected ”, he said. The police held talks with officials and SFI members.
