– Uber is ending the instant food delivery service portion of UberEats in New York City just a month after it began.
In an email, UberEats told users in New York on Monday it will continue with its standard service, however, its instant option — pre-fixed items like sandwiches or salads in 10 minutes or less — is being shut down.
“In order to bring you the most exciting selection, the highest quality food, and the fastest delivery time, we’ve decided to narrow our focus,” the company said. “Starting today, 4/18, we’ll no longer be offering a daily Instant Delivery lunch menu.”
The instant items were limited, and designed to be food that restaurants could make in bulk and Uber drivers could carry in their cars as long as they needed in order to maximize their efficiency.
The ride-hailing company launched the standalone UberEats app in partnership with hundreds of restaurants last month. The company said the instant option will remainin all the other UberEats cities in the United States.
