The funny men of AIB are back, and how! The group has released a video on the occasion on India’s 70th Independence Day and it’s called — The Day India Resigned. The satire video, wonderfully and hilariously highlights how Indians were made to feel secondary in their own country by the Queen’s men who had felt obligated to enlighten and educate the Indians.
But stop right there, if you think AIB has only criticised our former “employees/colonizers”. The year is 1947. A very placid and seemingly accommodating UK attends to the grievances of India and what’s more, even offers Darjeeling tea. And you guys thought our former oppressors were rude? Tsk Tsk. What’s more, India refuses! And, oh so indignantly! How dare you raise your voice even, you oppressed step-child crying for a diamond since forever?
Tanmay Bhat as Pakistan, feeling left out, occasionally joins the meeting, and is quick to leave when he hears about a girl going to school. How can that be let to happen, ya!
But India will have none of this drama. He demands just freedom! (dramatic deathly silence in the background while you read this.)
Britain reminds how the endless number of religions are going to slowly choke the country and turn the freedom it is now demanding, on its head. And India is obviously wounded by Britain, no wait, Great Britain, speaking out the truth so blatantly, just like it continues to be today, sulking and hurt by even the slightest of matters, like an over-possessive girlfriend.
India says THE SPEECH, then. THE SPEECH, before it resigns and goes on to became the greatest and the most harmonious country ever. Or, not.
